So Am I Late OR Am I Late??

Greetings Everyone!!

I am incredibly late with this post and I would like to put the blame on “life” lol.

So because it has been a long while I decided to combine Month 3 AND Month 4 of our 6 Month Protective Style Challenge into one post.

For Month 3 (May)

A week later I re-roded her hair with smaller perm rods

And Month 4 (June)

Mico Mini’s!!

I shampooed her hair each time with Mixed Chicks Sulfate Free Shampoo in order to remove the build-up she accumulated while wearing the protective style. I also deep conditioned her hair with Mega Growth Deep Conditioner.  Now here’s where it gets interesting…..!!!! Are you ready???? I BLOW DRIED HER HAIR!! That’s right, you read it correctly lol. We are in the process of moving to a different state so I did not have time to do the usual African Threading. I used our Creme of Nature Leave In and then applied Chi Silk Infusion before blow drying. Afterwards, I proceeded with the protective style  🙂

And that’s it! Lol. Hope you all enjoyed our update and are making wonderful progress yourselves 🙂

Month 2: Protective Style Challenge

Hello and Happy Spring Everyone!

Hope all is well 🙂

As promised, I want to share with you our protective style for month 2 of our 6 month protective style challenge.

I removed her box braids last night, detangled  her hair and coated it in Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I put a plastic cap on her head and left it on overnight. In the morning I shampooed her hair with Mixed Chicks Sulfate Free Shampoo and deep conditioned with ORS Hair Mayonnaise for 30 minutes (In hopes to get a small protein treatment in before braiding it up again). After rinsing that I applied Aphogee Keratin Reconstructor Leave in and Creme of Nature Argan Oil Leave In. I bet you can guess what came next…..YUP, African threading!

After a few hours, I removed the threads and styled her hair. And that’s it! I plan on keeping this style in for 4 weeks. One style per month for 6 months.

It’s not too late to join the challenge! Come grow with us!!

Washing Box Braids

Hi Ya’ll! 🙂

I wanted to make a post about how I wash Kaylei’s hair while it is in box braids. Because I oil/grease her scalp just about everyday, along with spraying braid spray, it is very important for me to cleanse her scalp and get rid of all that buildup.

First I take an empty bottle, pour shampoo in it, and add a little water. I used Mixed Chicks Sulfate Free Shampoo ( love this stuff! ). Then I shook it up and began spraying it directly on her scalp.

image

After I spray it, I use my FINGERTIPS to rub it in and sort of create a lather. Be very careful not to use your finger nails!  I spray and gently cleanse her entire head then I rinse it out.

image

After that I deep condition her hair with Mega Growth Anti Breakage Deep Conditioner. I apply it all throughout her parts.

image

I then put a plastic cap on her head and place her under the dryer for 30 minutes. When the time is up I rinse the conditioner out and apply my leave ins. I only used Creme of Nature Argan Oil Strength and Shine Leave In this time. Then I spritzed a little braid spray all over and let her hair air dry.

And there you have it! Her hair was extremely soft and shiny. And it smelled so good! Lol 🙂

I made a video on the process so be sure to check it out. Here’s the link…

6 Month Protective Style Challenge

Hello Wonderful People!

After doing Kaylei’s length check a couple of weeks ago, I decided to embark on a 6 month long challenge of protective styles. More specifically, protective styles in which none of her hair is exposed. To start it off I decided to do box braids. Have a look… 🙂

I plan to do a total of 6 styles, leaving each style in for exactly four weeks. I’m very excited to see what the results will be! And I invite you all to join us and let us know what your results are!!

Let’s grow together!

Guess What?!

Yup, we made another video! So it’s no secret that I love the method of African Threading. It’s a great way to straighten super coily hair without the use of heat. So I thought I’d show you guys how I remove the thread and the awesome results.

Here’s the link….

Happy Sunday!

Yesterday we had a full day of pre-pooing, cowashing, deep conditioning, and African threading Kaylei’s hair. AND we have it all on video! So make sure you guys check it out!!

Length Check March 2015

Hello Good People!!

So this morning while I was taking down Kaylei’s protective style I realized that I didn’t have a picture noting the length of her hair.

Length check pictures are a great way to track the progress of your hairs growth and length retention. So here is Kaylei’s as of March 6, 2015

Her next length check-in will be in 6 months. Hopefully we’ll see lots of progress!

Protective Style

Hello Everyone!!

This weekend we are going away so I won’t be able to do her weekly deep condition.

Instead, I just did a simple protective style that should last a couple of days…if I’m lucky…she is 3 and all lol.

Enjoy!

Tomorrow she’s wearing red so I will simply change her ribbon to red and swap the pink beads for clear ones. (Quick tip lol)

Video!

So I made a YouTube video documenting Kaylei’s protein treatment. Please check it out everyone!

And of course, let me know what you think!

Protein Treatment!

Hello Good People!

So this weekend Kaylei was due for a protein treatment. I am always infusing her hair with moisture and all kinds of natural oils that I just had to reach for one of my all time favorite protein treatments

That’s right, you’ve guessed it lol
Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayonnaise! Love this stuff!

After cowashing with The Original Mane ‘n Tail Conditioner, I applied it all over her hair, making sure to pay close attention to her edges and the ends of her hair.

I then sat her under the dryer for 30 minutes. After that her hair was extremely soft.

I rinsed it out, applied Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner, Elasta QP Olive Oil and Mango Butter Moisturizer, sealed it all in with extra virgin olive oil and threaded her hair.

And that’s it!!
